Create a Morning Routine That Will Boost Your Confidence

Mornings can be very chaotic.  We often find ourselves rushing to get ourselves ready and let out a big sigh of relief when we make it to our desk on time.  Although it might not seem like it now, our mornings can be a time of peace and self-reflection.  A time to take care of ourselves before we spend the day catering to others.  Let’s discuss some simple habits we can infuse into our morning routine that will boost our energy and our confidence.

Setting the Tone for a Positive Day

How we start our day has a big impact on how our day goes so we want to start it off on a positive note. There are a few quick and easy actions we can do that will easily turn into powerful morning habits for boosting confidence.

Taking a moment to meditate:

Take just 5 minutes to breathe, center yourself, and visualize a successful day. The more you do this the more your brain will look to point out positive things throughout the day.

Affirmations:

I was never a cheerleader, but let’s channel our inner one with positive affirmations. Remind yourself of your strengths and capabilities because I know you have a lot of them.

Gratitude:

Kickstart your day by jotting down three things you're grateful for. It's a gratitude journal, not a gratitude novel, so keep it simple and sincere.

Nutrition is Key

Now, let's talk about the brain-food connection. If your brain doesn’t work right, you don’t work right so we want to make sure we are giving our brains the fuel it needs.  However, we don’t need to make it complicated.  Here are a few ideas for you the next time you are in the grocery store:

Omega-3 Fatty Acids:

Think of it as brain fuel. Salmon, mackerel, and trout are great choices.  Chia seeds are another great source of omega-3s and go great in overnight oats or yogurt.

Colorful Veggies:

Vibrant veggies give us the nutrients our bodies need so we can have the energy we are looking for.  A great tip is to switch up what you buy each week, so you don’t miss out on any critical vitamins and minerals, and it keeps things more interesting.

Dark Chocolate:

Yes, you read that right! Dark chocolate is the guilty pleasure that's not so guilty. Are there any other Chocolate fans out there?  I admit that I’m a little bit (ok a lot!) of a chocoholic!  It's a sweet treat that is sure to put you in a sweet mood.  Do you want to have some chocolate in the morning?  Why not?  I love to add a little to my oatmeal.  There are no rules here, but don’t forget – moderation is key!

By incorporating these additional habits into your morning routine, you will find yourself with more energy and confidence. Remember, starting a new routine is an ongoing process so be patient with yourself.  Look at these habits as building blocks for a more energized, confident, and balanced life.
